Hi <<First Name>>,

It's been said that advice is the worst vice. Recently, I heard a wise man who said that most advice from successful people is akin to them describing their lottery number to you. Makes sense, when you consider the full range of unpredictable factors such as luck and timing in the equation.

That said, not all advice is bad —it is what we make of it. The best pieces of advice are lived and experienced. When we encounter a piece of advice at the right time and have had the experience to connect with it, magic arises.

Question: What's the one advice you've been given that has stuck with you, and that you try to practice?

As someone who has chronically underslept for most of his life, sleep is something I've placed more emphasis on, the more I read into sleep science, and as I've become more conscientious about my overall energy and health.

Crazily enough, until recently, science didn't know the purpose of why we sleep, despite it being one of the most important areas of our lives. We've all felt bad from a bad night's worth of sleep, but if you're like me and most people, you've probably grossly underestimated the cost of health consequences a lack of sleep can bring.

In this fascinating book, the author shares cutting-edge research that answers important questions about from the impact of caffeine and alcohol on sleep, why sleep timing and patterns matter, and what are the effects on sleep on longevity, chronic-diseases, and productivity.

“The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night’s sleep.” — Matthew Walker

This is the best book I've read on the topic of sleep, and if there's one book you read this year that's related to health and fitness, I would make this the one.

Takeaways

☝️Sleep is a fundamental pillar of our recovery and well-being.
☝️Sleep quantity does not equal sleep quality!
☝️
People sleeping 6 hours/night will typically eat 300 extra calories during the day due to hormones disruption.
