ACTA International Conference 2016

Exchanging Ways of Being
7th - 10th April, 2016

Between the 7th and 10th of April this year, over 500 delegates gathered in Perth, WA, to attend the ACTA International Conference. This year, ACTA combined with ACAL to provide professional learning across the fields of TESOL/D and Adult Literacy and Numeracy.

Entitled “Exchanging Ways of Being”, the conference explored how students from diverse backgrounds can learn together and develop effective competencies in common language. It delivered a variety of opportunities to extend professional skills and knowledge, examining a blend of research, practice and advocacy issues, including focuses on Indigenous Education, numeracy, and digital teaching technologies and approaches, through lectures and workshops.

Additionally, delegates relished the chance to meet with practitioners from an assortment of countries, states and sectors, to share ideas and to discuss the similarities and differences between their learners, settings and practice. A pleasing number of Victorian delegates attended and likewise enjoyed a fantastic professional learning experience. Victoria was also well-represented among the presenters.

The next ACTA Conference is planned for South Australia in 2018.
