Yoga in the Park

Greetings, Friends!

I'm so excited for Free Yoga in the Park!

But first I wanted to share that last week I successfully rebooted my Aligned Flow series at Sangha Yoga Collective on Market Street in Lowell.

The rest of the series will focus on the remaining four Universal Principles of Alignment, Muscular Energy (7/23), Inner Spiral (7/30), Outer Spiral (8/6) and Organic Energy (8/13). These principles work to some degree in every pose and in every practice. They also apply "beyond the mat," to our practice in the world. Remember, you can drop in for $12 per class. I'm also honoring the studio's practice of offering the "first class free" and a student discount of $10.

This spring I was grateful to have taught several Sunday afternoon Community Classes at Sangha Yoga Collective. Last Monday, Sangha moved these community classes outdoors to Boardinghouse Park for free Yoga in the Park.* As you can see from the photo above, my colleague Isla led us in a beautifully cooling and grounding practice. This week, 7/22, I'll be teaching. The Full Buck Moon (also Thunder Moon) falls on Monday. In India, this Full Moon is celebrated as Guru Purnima, which honors our teachers and mentors. I'm really excited to be honoring my teachers on such an auspicious day, filled with imagery of darkness and light.

Please feel free to forward this e-mail to friends who might be interested, even if you are unable to join us.

Also stay tuned for an update about Sangha's Open House at the Lowell Folk Festival, from 12-4 on Saturday, July 27. The studio is just a few steps from the Dutton Street Dance Pavilion. We'll be offering some quick general classes. Whether you are strolling, taking in the performances, or dancing, stop on by for some quick hip and low back relief that I'll be offering. We'll lengthen and strengthen some muscles that cause a lot of us grief.

In the meantime, use these Ayurveda Guidelines For Summer from Cate Stillman to stay cool as a cuke!
