The Chamber's Legislative Position Paper
As you all well know, the West Orange Chamber is involved in a myriad of local, state and national issues that impact your businesses. Through its various committees, we generate input on pertinent legislative business issues that are important to our Members. This input is provided to the Economic & Governmental Advocacy Committee (EGAC) and the recommendations are developed into the 2014 Legislative Priorities.
These priorities are adopted by the WOCC Board of Directors and distributed to our Central Florida Legislation in Tallahassee. Next week, Stina D’Uva - Chamber CEO/President, Krista Carter - Chamber VP, and various Members of EGAC will travel to Tallahassee to meet with numerous State and Federal elected officials to enlighten them on the issues facing West Orange County. The issues that the Chamber are focused on range from infrastructure to health care and education to economic development. The Chamber still supports the closure of the internet sales tax loophole to create a level playing field for our local brick and mortar retailers. In addition, the West Orange Chamber continues to oppose the expansion of gambling/gaming in the state of Florida. To learn more about the devastating effects of gaming across the sunshine state, please visit www.lessforfla.com.
By presenting these issues in face-to-face meetings with State Representatives and highly influential State Leaders, we feel that the impact is much greater. The West Orange Chamber is the voice of thousands of businessmen and women in Central Florida and the importance of that could be lost by simply mailing our Legislative Position Paper. We hope that each and every one of you will become involved with either our EGAC, Education or Small Business Development Committees. They are open to all active Members of the Chamber and truly allow you to voice your opinions on issues that matter to you and your industry.
