Board Members Planning for the Future

On October 16, the WOCC board rolled up their sleeves and participated in an all-day planning retreat.  Led by Chair-Elect, Rob Maphis, we had some intense and in-depth discussion about positioning your Chamber for continued success in the future.  Being named Florida Chamber of the Year 2015 does not happen by accident.  It’s a process of year-after-year planning, adapting, refining and inventing ways to strengthen the value proposition for our membership.   It’s about ensuring we have the right focus, people, programs and resources in place to help you and the West Orange community thrive.

We also spent some time reaffirming our personal support for the Chamber’s overarching business objective – to Facilitate Opportunity – by sharing examples of how our very own board is leading by example.

I was very pleased to hear so many stories of Board members doing business with fellow members. Here are just a few examples shared during the meeting:
  • Jaclyn Whiddon of The Whiddon Marketing Group: “I took clients to the Chef’s table. They have never been before and it was the perfect atmosphere for a client meeting.”
  • Dorcas Dillard of POPS: “I recently bought a sign for an event through the Sign Farm. Great service and great finished product!”
  • CeCe Rivers of UCF: “I have scheduled numerous 1/1 lunch meetings at Savoree because it’s convenient, the service is friendly, and cookies delicious!”
We would love to hear from you too.  If you would like to share how you have helped Facilitate Opportunity for a fellow Chamber member, click here to share your story on our website. We regularly review these comments to choose our next "Chief Facilitator of Opportunity (CFO)" to be featured on our homepage and CFO page. Thank you to the 2015 Board of Directors, as well as all members, for Facilitating Opportunity for each other!  Congratulations again to our most recent CFO: Kathleen Roat of Kathleen Roat & Company, Inc.
