State budget includes $25 million for trails: Three cheers for Senate President Andy Gardiner, Governor Rick Scott and the Florida legislature, who once again, made trails a priority during the 2015 legislative session – to the tune of $25 million. Read more
The City of Ocoee's Community Grant Program applications are now available, with financial grants of up to $6,000. Groups eligible to apply for a grant are Ocoee non-profit organizations and civic groups, including those outside the city limits. The city awards the grants to acknowledge excellence and to further the contributions these local organizations bring to the Ocoee community. Learn More
SunTrust recently awarded $25,000 to Community Based Care’s First Star Central Florida Academy for the purchase of new laptops. The Academy provides select students in foster care with workshops and mentoring services focused on improving their academic success, personal and social development, and self-sufficiency skills. Registration for Ocoee Before and After School Program open now to July 31, for residents only.  Open enrollment for residents and non-residents will be held on August 3.  The program, open to children ages 5 –14, is held at the Jim Beech Recreation Center. Fun activities for the program include sports, crafts, homework time and movies. Learn more
The City of Ocoee is sponsoring its annual Calendar Photo Contest celebrating the beauty and uniqueness of Ocoee.  Winning photographs will be published in the city’s 2016 Community Calendar.  Photographers will be given photo credit in the calendar. Learn More
With delays stalling UCF's downtown campus, the Board of Trustees said Thursday the project will move forward as planned. Provost Dale Whittaker and UCF’s Chief Financial Officer and trustee William Merck led a joint discussion regarding the project's status. Though Gov. Rick Scott vetoed funding for the project, Merck said that they have plans to supplement the state funding. Read more
