The West Orange Chamber Facilitates Opportunity for Every Member

By Rob Maphis, WOCC Chairman

Stina D'Uva, President/CEOThe West Orange Chamber of Commerce eclipsed a significant membership milestone during the past month. With over 1,100 members of varying sizes and diverse industries, it is essential that the Chamber continue to offer many options to the business community. The recent and upcoming events held by your Chamber are great examples of how this is accomplished.

Politics are on the top of many minds during this election year, and this month our Hob Nob & Straw Poll offered potential voters the opportunity to meet the candidates and get informed on the issues before they fill out their ballots in the upcoming election. There are many decisions that will be made during this election cycle and it is of paramount importance that the business community is informed, engaged and represented at the ballot box. Please make sure you cast your vote for the August 30 election.

For business leaders looking for the educational opportunities to take their company to the next level, we have a pair of great events coming up later this month. The third Chamber411 installment of 2016 will focus on “Mastering Social Media Marketing.” Join us tomorrow (August 24) for this free opportunity to boost your digital efforts. We will wrap up the month with another Business Before Hours on August 31. This time, we’ll welcome Dave Porter from the Orlando Economic Development Commission, who will tell us about the new Central Florida brand, “Orlando, You don’t know the half of it!”

At the West Orange Chamber, we firmly believe that a high level of participation is beneficial for all in our business community. The events mentioned here only scratch the surface of the countless ways to get involved. To see a full list of upcoming business and community events, click here to visit the WOCC calendar.

Building Better Business Relationships

By Heather Papoulis, Manager of Membership Development

It is no secret that we are all hardwired for connection: spouses, friends, family, community, etc. We are a social animal and it is the relationships we build that can enhance our lives. It should not be surprising that this carries over to business as well!

Build yourself within your social circles, the secret to networking is not handing out your business card to 100 people and waiting for the business to roll in or fitting as many benefits your company or business may offer into your 30-second elevator speech. Full story
