Hi <<First Name>>,
Here are a few updates and tips about marketing that may impact your business.
Google Alerts - Use these to track your brand name, top competitors, and trends in your industry. Tell Google to only search the “best” results and send you an email update with results.
SEO backlinks - Backlinks to your site matter as long as they are from quality sites. And once you have them, you want to make the most of them. Take a look at current links in your Search Console. If you have quite a few links to a certain page, see if there is opportunity to improve that page with quality content or calls-to-action. If there a lot of backlinks to a page that is not a great page and not worth improving, talk to your webmaster about redirecting it to a relevant page on your site so you keep the backlink equity.
Search Quality Guidelines - Google recently updated their search quality guidelines which is a fantastic read if you can’t sleep at night. Here’s the short version:
- Write content for site visitors, not for Google’s algorithms.
- Be careful about clickbaity-tabloid style headlines unless your content really delivers what is promised.
- Have bios for the authors on your site. Turns out their authority matters, not just site authority.
- The phrase “beneficial purpose” is used repeatedly in the guidelines so ask yourself that question when you add something to your site. “Does it have a beneficial purpose?”
Have a great week!
