With Halloween firmly behind us, the days getting a lot shorter and colder, and Christmas fast approaching (and the Junior Cert 2022 results finally in the hands of the pupils of Crescent - we wish them all the best of luck today) the year is drawing to an end.

The Crescent College Past Pupils Union has come through the last few difficult years with resilience and with a full calendar of events we look forward to 2023 with hope and excitement for the activities to come.

We thank you all for your support over the year and hope to see you in 2023 at some of our social or sporting events whether it is golf, rugby, our annual dinner or even a quiz perhaps.

Also we would encourage those of you with a bit of affection in your heart for Crescent to consider joining the Union Committee for 2023 (it's only a commitment for a few 1 hour meetings spread across the year) but we need your support to keep the activities and good work of the Union alive for the future. If you'd consider it come to our AGM in late January 2023 and put your name forward .. we'd be delighted to have you join.

Dinner Report and Photos

Our Annual Dinner was held on Saturday 08 October 2022 in the Shannon Suite at the Strand Hotel. This was the first time that the dinner was held since 2019 and our level of anticipation was matched by the 151 invited guests, past pupils and friends who attended on the night.

The dinner provided an excellent opportunity to renew old acquaintances and to make new ones. Invited guests included the representatives of our sister unions (Belvedere, Mungret College, Clongowes), President of the Jesuit Alumnae Ireland, President of Old Crescent RFC, the Chair of the Parents Council and the Principal of Crescent College Comprehensive SJ. Also in attendance were previous Roll of Honour inductees, Mr Justice Kevin O’Higgins and Mr Bill Whelan. The classes of 1960 and 1962 from the Sacred Heart College held their reunions at the dinner.

Junior Cycle - Creative Writing Competition 2022 Winners

Our Past Pupils Union have sponsored an award that champions creative writing amongst the 3^rd year Junior Cycle students of Crescent College Comprehensive SJ. The initiative was conducted in conjunction with teachers Ms Lisa Bennett and Mr Shane McDonagh of the Cultural and Languages Department of the College. The winning author would receive a glass inscribed plaque and a pizza day for their entire class, cooked on-site by the Happy Dough Lucky Pizza Company (Mr John Lyons and Mrs Mary Lyons).
