For the first time, COPE NoSoCo is soliciting donations to help us with operating expenses and special projects. We are recognized as a California non-profit and thus, charitable donations are tax deductible. You have all accomplished so much and have ambitious goals for the future. This has been a most difficult year financially for many, but to the extent you are able, please consider making a donation to our organization. Additionally, please forward the attached letter on to your COPE Neighborhood Leaders and Residents.
Here is the content of the letter:
Dear Northern Sonoma County COPE Community,
This has been one of the most challenging years in recent memory. Besides having a pandemic and a government in disarray, we once again faced devastating fires here in Northern Sonoma County. Despite these challenges, we have much to be proud of. We have grown to over 45 COPE Communities involving thousands of residents. Within our COPE communities we have offered critical emergency preparedness education, sponsored vegetation management events including Chipper Days, provided up-to-date communication during emergency incidents, and many other types of support to our communities. Organizationally we have formed a Board of Directors and applied to be recognized as a California non-profit organization*. We have formed collaborative relationships with over 20 local fire, law enforcement, nonprofits, and government agencies. We meet monthly to share information and spearhead projects that help our communities become better prepared.
And yet, even with all these achievements, we have much more to accomplish to assist our communities to prepare, prevent, respond and recover from emergencies. Examples of activities we hope to be able to fund include:
- Website Development and Maintenance
- On-going Outreach and Social Media Messaging
- Printing of Educational Materials for Residents
- COPE Leadership Training
- Outreach to Latinx, Seniors and other Vulnerable Communities
Many COPE leaders and their neighbors are supporting these efforts and we hope you will encourage them to do so. Checks are payable to COPE Northern Sonoma County at: PO Box 1841, Healdsburg, CA 95448.
Thank you so very much for all you do for COPE.
Warmest wishes to you and your family for Happy Holidays,
Priscilla and Marshall and all of the COPE NoSoCo Board Members
