… we are not a bit on the side
Following the address from the Pro First Grand Principal at the Supreme Grand Chapter Convocation on 13 November there has been a flurry of content posted on social media and elsewhere . This has included reference to the Royal Arch (ironically) and the Progressive Orders of Freemasonry as 'side orders'.
This is completely wrong - side orders are chips and onion rings.
Rant over - thank you.
New Provincial Grand Summus, Keith McCully, institutes
a travelling Scarlet Cord

Grand Summus, M.Dist.Comp. Ian Currans travelled with his Tzaddikim (that's 'scarlet' talk for bodyguard) - pictured below - to Bury St Edmunds on Monday to install R.Dist.Comp. Keith McCully as Provincial Grand Summus for East Anglia.
A customary polished and memorable event which saw the new Provincial Grand Summus introduce the innovative concept of the 'Travelling Scarlet Cord'.
The question being, where will it be seen next?

Kolkata Marathon - Saturday 16 November 2019

R.Dist.Comp. Krishnamchari Gopal, R.Dist.Comp. Geoff Gill and R.Dist.Comp. Stephen Hindes donned the glorious robes of the Scarlet Cord rather than running vests for an incredible marathon of Freemasonry - the consecration in Kolkata of three consistories (Calcutta, Eastern India and Bengal) in one day.
They started at 9am and finally were able to cease labour and enjoy refreshment at 9pm - and just to underline their stamina and fortitude, R.Dist.Comp. Stephen Hindes capped it all with the consecration of Mount Zion Rose Croix Chapter. This was his swansong as he steps down as
Sovereign Grand Commander of the Ancient and Accepted Rite for India after 10 years service in December.

'Digital' Freemasonry, not just for Millenials or Echo Boomers, and incredibly popular in Romania

The Mark Internet Lodge was a concept formed in the mind of W.Bro. Royston Morris, a Past Master of the Craft Internet Lodge No.9659 (East Lancashire), and was consecrated on 4 June 2016.
Their second regular meeting, held under dispensation, was in Bucharest, when they Advanced 32 Romanian Craft Masons on the first day and a further 29 more on the second, including the Craft Grand Master of Romania and most of his Executive.
And as they say in Romania "restul este istorie" - the rest is history.
From a concept in 2016 to a membership of several hundred and the formation of the Inspectorate of Romania in 2019, they're still attracting members from all over the world.

Phipps-Dorman No.32 Royal & Select Masters' Council
Celebrates Centenary on Saturday 2 November

But who was Phips-Dorman? Apart from being an eminent Freemason and benefactor he was
Principal Partner in The Dorman Engineering Company of Northampton who's main product was the Dorman sewing machine, though they started manufacturing engines and made the Whirlwind motorised bicycle for a few years, before failing in 1903.

#Friday Feeling
It's good to feel liked and followed - Mark Masons' Hall and our Grand Secretary are no exception. One of the very powerful ways of building awareness and consideration towards our ten Orders it to establish a presence on social media - Facebook and Twitter are a good start - and to have that conversation with your members and potential candidates.
We would also like to share our appreciation of the great work you are all doing - can you please email us on with your Facebook and Twitter details. This will ensure that we like, share, follow and retweet in return - all emails will be acknowledged.
Thank you.
