Weekly update for MCC Brighton

Greetings <<First Name>>, welcome to this week's newsletter!

Living in the moment is really difficult these days. There is so much doom and gloom around. So much uncertainty and fear.

But that is when we need it most.

This week i took my 17 month old Son Matthew to his swimming lesson. Sometimes it takes him a while to settle in and start to enjoy it, but this week he was straight into enjoying it. He was buzzing. It was clear he was loving every second of it. Even though there were several new things in the lesson this week, he just took them in his stride. He was fully in the moment. It stunned me and it drew me into a similar place. Just being fully there in that small pool, everything else ceased to exist. It was so great, so peaceful, so much fun.

That is the magic and joy of living in the moment. Being fully present in that instant. It makes the worries and fears fade for a while, giving our minds and emotions a chance to rest, to pause, to gather their strength. A wonderfully calming buffer against the current onslaught of crap. Now that is truly priceless.

I know not everyone has a toddler to teach them this lost art of living in the moment, but i believe we can all learn to do it, we just need to find whatever triggers that feeling for us.

So, i would strongly recommend that this week be spent trying to recapture that toddler-like awe and joy towards every moment of the day. The rewards will more than compensate for the effort.

Have a truly blessed, safe and toddlerish week

Andrew
