MoD delegation in RSVD
An 80-member delegation led by high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Defence visited Renaissance Village Duqm (RSVD) recently. The delegation presented mementoes to RSVD officials as a token of their appreciation. 

A project for the future generation
As a strategic partner in SEZAD’s Tawasul initiative, Renaissance has refurbished a pre-school nursery run by the Omani Women’s Association in Sai village, Duqm. It was a collective effort by volunteers from Renaissance’s Projects, Commercial and RSVD Operations departments to plan, contract and supervise the refurbishment, looking into every aspect, from ambience to health and safety. Sami Al Sheikh, Senior manager – Operations and Development, who was involved with the project from inception said, “We are very happy to have been able to take part in providing a safe and welcoming educational environment for the children of the nursery. We are fully committed to the communities we work in, and it is particularly special when we contribute towards building the future of our children and Oman.” Through projects like these, Renaissance aims to be part of the Ministry of Education’s efforts to encourage schooling in Al Wusta, which according to data, records low literacy and high school drop-out rates.

OQ Group CEO visits RSVD
Talal Al Aufi, Group CEO, OQ, visited Renaissance Village Duqm (RSVD) last month along with a six-member leadership team. Stephen R Thomas, CEO, Renaissance, accompanied the delegation during its tour of the various facilities in RSVD. 

Renaissance welcomes new board member
Dr Lamya Al-Haj joins the Renaissance board as director. Dr Lamya is an associate professor at Sultan Qaboos University with a Ph.D. in Structural & Molecular Biology from University College London (UCL), a change management coach and winner of the 2019 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science recognition. Manish Doshi, who stepped down from the board effective February 22, will remain as its advisor throughout the rest of 2022. 

For a clean marine environment
A team from Renaissance Sager Environmental Services (RSES) participated in ‘Together for a Sustainable Environment in Duqm’, a marine clean-up campaign in Hasa Hamar. It was organised by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), represented by the Environmental Awareness team in the Special Economic Zone, Duqm. The Renaissance team cleaned the shore around the rock and transported debris and waste removed from the seabed by divers to the landfill. 

Security and speed 
The Renaissance IT team has revamped the wi-fi network in the Renaissance head office and the company’s central store in Ma’abela. This initiative offers faster wi-fi speeds while making the network extra secure. Amit Chaulkar, Director of IT at Renaissance said, “Renaissance has tied up with Ezelink to provide an enterprise-grade robust and scalable solution to provide wi-fi for demanding applications on the latest platform. With the new managed service, employees and guests can expect consistent connectivity on a secure platform.”

Fast-tracking Renaissance 2.0
Stepping on the pedal towards Renaissance 2.0 objectives, the company organised a day-long Exponential Growth Workshop for the management at the Crowne Plaza Muscat on February 9. One of the objectives of the workshop was to get the team started on how to arrive at its Inclusive Massive Transformative Purpose (IMTP), a growth philosophy that can drive exponential growth. Tariq Qureishy, co-founder and CEO of Xponential and Paul Epping, its chairman who conducted the workshop discussed the background of IMTP, leadership and culture issues, attributes, and exponential dynamics among a range of topics through quizzes and group exercises.

Excellence delivered even better
Renaissance has kickstarted its Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification programme and linked it to quantifiable goals. The Green belt training for participants will culminate with an LSS project that delivers meaningful result to the organisation in terms of improved processes and substantial annual savings. Following this, participants will be certified as LSS Green Belt Professionals. Renaissance’s Operational Excellence Manager Pradeep Shanmugam said, “An employee’s intimate knowledge makes him or her the best resource to analyse and improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes and operations. Our main objective behind this initiative is to help drive operational excellence by empowering people with practical problem-solving skills and equip them with certification that is beneficial for career progression. The first batch of Green Belt training will commence on March 13.”
