45th BACKGAMMON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Dear Backgammon Enthusiasts, Friends and Families,

We hope this email finds you happy and healthy!

We have finally received notice of approval to run the 45th World Championship at the Fairmont Monte Carlo from October 3 to October 11, 2020.

As you may know, Monte Carlo has very little Covid disease. Although we are willing to make this happen, we want to keep everyone as safe as possible and want to hear your thoughts. Please share your thoughts, suggestions, and fears.

We would take all safety cautions:
  1. We would require masks which we would supply,
  2. We would do whatever possible to keep the boards and pieces sterile/disinfected,
  3. We would require pre-payment through PayPal and would refund all monies received should the tournament not take place due to circumstances beyond our control.
Our question to you is whether you would feel safe enough to attend. We believe we can pull this off and have a successful and safe tournament.

If the quarantine rules (that are changing every day) would allow you to return to your countries from Monaco without having to self-isolate upon your return, would you attend?

If things do not get worse, would you attend?

Under what circumstances would you attend?

We want to hear from you!

However, should the 45th World Championship not take place as planned, we will indeed move forward with an outstanding online event to be held in the fall.

We thank you for your patience and understanding in this difficult time and look forward to all of your responses.

Best regards,
Patti Rubin
