After 18 months of planning and reworking, the installation of the entire 33 kilowatt solar power array was finished in just one day! The installation cost about $64,000, through a 25 year contract with Wayne County and the Clean Energy Co-op. The installation is going to be running by the end of the month. SEEDS will be working with the Wayne County Arts Alliance to install a solar energy educational kiosk at the Stourbridge Project. Local artist, Lisa Glover, will be designing the kiosk.
Stourbridge is a co-working space available to the community, which hopes to inspire innovation and local business development. Jack Barnett, a board member of both SEEDS and The Clean Energy Co-op says of the project: "county commissioners thought that powering this facility with solar energy would be another innovative way to demonstrate how clean energy is supportive of the community."
WNEP covered the solar install, and you can view that piece here.
