Here are some of the courses we are running in the next couple of months:
An Introduction to Safeguarding Children - 16th March 2016 (Amble)
This course is a half day introduction to child protection issues for volunteers and paid workers in community and voluntary groups and organisations. It is an ideal course for volunteers and paid staff from; youth groups, faith groups, sports clubs, advice centres, drop-in centres, community centres. We will provide participants with a basic awareness of what child abuse is, child protection procedures and your responses to child protection concerns.
An awareness of safeguarding adults and children - 13th May 2016 (Ashington)
This course is a half day introduction to protection issues for paid workers or volunteers who have any contact with children, young people or adults at risk, for example; older people, those with mental health issues, those who have a disability including a learning disability. It is an ideal course for reception or administration staff, caretakers, trustees, committee members, cafe staff, food bank volunteers. We will provide participants with a basic awareness of what abuse is, how to recognise abuse and what you should do, if you have concerns.
Safe Recruitment - 20th April 2016 (Amble)
This is a 3 hour course to identify what is required around safeguarding children and young people from potential unsuitable people who may apply to join your organisation or group. The course covers the recruitment process, including; job interviews, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and the importance of ongoing vigilance. This course is ideal for anyone involved in the recruitment process.
