Northumberland Safeguarding Children Board (NSCB) Seek Two Lay Members For Their Board
Could you help support organisations in Northumberland to safeguard children and young people?
Northumberland Safeguarding Children Board (NSCB) is looking for two local residents to become Lay Members on the Board to help build closer ties with the community.
The NSCB is made up of senior representatives from all organisations in Northumberland who are involved in safeguarding. It agrees how relevant organisations co-operate to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
As a member of the NSCB, Lay Members will help build closer links with local communities so that there is a better understanding of the Board’s child protection and child safety work across Northumberland.
Lay Members will attend Board meetings, and will contribute to discussions, decisions and challenge, helping to ensure the NSCB is focussed, responsible and responsive.
The role is a voluntary one, although expenses such as travel costs will be reimbursed if required.
Ideally, you will live in Northumberland and have close ties with local community organisations. You must be committed to improving the welfare and safeguarding outcomes for children and young people, have the ability to contribute to the work of the NSCB, ask questions, challenge assumptions and offer feedback to provide an independent voice to the NSCB.
They are particularly interested in candidates who can:
- Contribute a strong perspective on diversity, particularly on religion and belief
- Help develop further links with education establishments and school communities within the county
- Provide an increased understanding of the impact of deprivation on children and young people
An enhanced DBS disclosure with a Children’s and Adults barred list check will be required for this role. You may not apply if you have been employed by any agency represented on Northumberland Safeguarding Children Board in the past 12 months.
