3 Points To Ponder

"We all have the opportunity to bring life to someone else. How can you make someone feel alive today?"

"Giving multiplies, as others repeat the generous action. Who in your life has been generous to you, showing you how to be generous in return?"

"During times of great pain, we can choose joy for someone else and lighten the load. Who in your life needs you to carry a bit of their pain to make life a little easier for them today?"

“Life’s persistent and most urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” -Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Learn to light a candle in the darkest moments of someone’s life. Be the light that helps others see; it is what gives life its deepest significance.” - Roy T. Bennet

1 Story of Impact

Carmilaire Pierre was dealing with a diagnosis of prostate cancer. Having gone through several periods of hospitalization, it had been a long year for him and his son, Micul, who is the Principal at the Many Hands School of Light. In early November, Carmilaire was hospitalized with an urgent need for a blood transfusion. Due to continuing unrest and disparity in Haiti, blood is unavailable in times of need. A patient is responsible for finding willing donors, paying for testing to see if they’re a match, and paying for all other costs. Many Hands’ Benevolence Committee was able to walk with the Pierre family to try and find Carmilaire the needed blood. Unfortunately, no matches were found and he passed to eternity on November 23. For the funeral, all the school children were bussed to the ceremony and walked the processional from the church to the cemetery. It was a tremendous show of solidarity for their principal. After the funeral, Micul wrote this note to our staff: Sincerely, I have no words or expressions to thank you for the way you supported my family: in your prayers, in the help you gave me to help me find blood for my father, in the effort to participate and send the students, teachers and other team members at the funeral, etc. I had another job that could pay me more money. But I decided to stay at Many Hands to see how I can contribute to community transformation with you. You make me even more proud to work with you. I feel alive when I’m around you. I love you so much! Even in great times of sorrow, it is possible to give joy to someone. We all have an opportunity to give joy to someone in need. Whether you choose to participate in the Many Hands Give Joy alternative gifting catalog or you give to someone else, find ways to give joy during this Christmas season and help someone else feel alive because of you.
