In The Garden of Sorrows author John Hughes brings us fourteen fables in which iconic Australian animals take on human qualities. These universal stories are accompanied by evocative, wry etchings by award winning artist, Marco Luccio.

The Wedge Gallery will be exhibiting original etchings from the book until July 28.

Author John Hughes and artist Marco Luccio will talk about the book, the stories within it and the processes behind it at the book event on Sunday 27 July, 2pm in our K's Cafe.

Watch Marco Luccio create a print for the book here.

Omar Musa first came to national attention in 2012 with his performance of My Generation on ABC TV's Q&A. Last year he received a standing ovation for his TEDx performance at the Sydney Opera House. The hip hop artist and slam poetry champion has now released his powerful debut novel Here Come the Dogs.

Following the immense response to his fully-booked launch at The Vanguard on
July 22, we are hosting a second event in store with Omar!
Join us to hear Omar talk about the novel and watch him perform excerpts live from the book.

Praise for Here Come the Dogs:

'Omar Musa's writing is tough and tender, harsh and poetic, raw and beautiful; it speaks to how we live and dream now. His voice is genuine, new and exciting; his voice roars.'  - Christos Tsiolkas (The Slap)

'This stunning debut novel has such swaggering exuberance that it will make most other fiction you read this year seem criminally dull. You have been warned.'
- Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting)
  HASEL AND ROSE

Rose feels alone in the new town. Everything is different and strange.
She wishes . . . but she's not sure what she's wishing for.
She searches, but she's not sure what for.

Hasel and Rose is the beautiful new picture book from Australian water colour artist and illustrator Caroline Magerl. Come hear her talk about this wonderful children's book, her creation process and watch her live water colour demonstration as she is accompanied by clarinetist Janet Brewer.
