Hello Three Forks!
When I accepted the position of Vice President of the Three Forks Chamber of Commerce for 2020, I had no idea what a year this would be.
I recently opened a community calendar and saw day after day of nothing scheduled.
This seemingly small act struck me hard.
I wondered how many of us could use ways to connect with other people in our community and have things to look forward to!
Summer is coming, there are many incredible events that the chamber helps create and these community events are as important as ever! They give us a reason to communicate and collaborate and give us something to look forward to.
The visitor information center will open and we are hiring! Our Farmers Markets will be extraordinary this year, as we bring together more local farmers, crafters, bakers, ranchers (and more) selling local goods. And, of course, our Infamous Rodeo Dayz!
As we move towards planning these important community events, we need and want your input. What are your favorite parts of these events and what could we do differently to make it better?
One thing we can do right now is email, call, gather information and have virtual meetings to make these summer community events be the best they’ve ever been. This will also help keep us focused and hopeful on things we love, that we will get to do this summer.

(April 23, 1901 – May 13, 1992) Isabelle was born on a sheep ranch in Absarokee, Montana. She studied painting and sculpture at Columbia University and was selected in 1946 by Henry Varnum (American Artist and Architect) to participate in the first class of his experimental Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan, Maine.

Afterward she moved back to the Johnson family ranch in Stillwater County, Montana. She taught at MSU - Billings from 1949 - 1961 and served as department head from 1954 to 1961. As a teacher of art in Montana, she taught Modernism and she spent most of her life painting the Stillwater River Valley.

She lived and painted through 2 world wars, the Great Depression, from horses to cars, and from phone booths to computers. She donated her ranch to MSU and then also Peter and Cathy Halstead, who developed it and adjacent land into the TIPPET RISE ART CENTER.
