A little light to shine...

Walt Disney

Walt Disney had had his fair share of failures- he was fired from his job in the Kansas City Star paper because “he lacked imagination and had no good ideas”; his Mickey Mouse cartoons were rejected for being “too scary for women”; ‘The Three Little Pigs’ was also turned down because it only had four characters; his first business venture, Laugh-O-Gram animation studio landed in bankruptcy.

Stepping forward through failures, he built the Walt Disney Company which now rakes in billions. Rumor has it that he was turned down 302 times before he finally got financing for the Walt Disney Company.

Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein could not speak until he was four and he did not read until he was seven. His parents and teachers thought he was slow, mentally handicapped and anti-social. He was expelled from school and was denied admittance in Zurich Polytechnic School.

Now Einstein is a household name, a synonym to “genius”–credited for having changed the world with his discoveries.

J.K Rowling

Now one of the richest women in the world, J K Rowling was once penniless, divorced, raising a child alone and going through series of depressions.

She was so broke that she didn’t even have the money to print the manuscript of Harry Potter, she typed all 9000 plus words on an old typewriter manually to submit to the publisher.

Rural Prosperity Through Cooperation Program

The Northern Rocky Mountain Economic Development District (NRMEDD)
met with the City of Three Forks, last Tuesday March 10th, 2020.

One main goal was to share recommendations for creating a model for business and industry while planning for housing, workforce and regional infrastructure.

"Our area’s economic health and dynamism can be advanced through a rural/urban cooperation. Bozeman, the area’s major urban center, succeeds because it draws from a market of more than 250,000, mostly rural, consumers. To be sure, Bozeman offers a desirable urban core and more costly urban styled amenities. It is also true that many of Bozeman’s recreation, lifestyle, workforce and affordability derive from the outlying rural area. Rural communities benefit from Bozeman’s employment and commercial opportunities and amenities that include higher education, culture, commercial activities, 21st century telecommunications infrastructure, employment and health care. While synergies exist, the effort of this program is to show that all can benefit, bi-directionally, from purposeful economic cooperation."

The attached document includes the original invitation letter to participate in the program, an Inflow /Outflow map, the teams involved, and the preliminary recommendations presented to the City of Three Forks.

Three Forks School 2020 BOND VOTE

 by Leandra Hill
Executive Director, Three Forks Chamber of Commerce

As you may well know, there is a very important bond vote coming up on May 5th.
This will be the bond that will support the Three Forks School getting only the most important aspects addressed.

The three main aspects that Jeff Elliott, the superintendent of the Three Forks School, would very much like everyone to understand is safety, space, and infrastructure.

There is no fire suppression.

The scariest part about how unsafe the school is, is a comment that the fire chief made to Jeff Elliot stating that if the school was on fire he would not send his crew in because it would be too dangerous.

 There is not enough space.

There is so little space and so many students that there are three teachers sharing one classroom, there are 3 classes being taught in the auditorium and  elementary school group work is actually done in the hallways.

 The infrastructure is not sound.

The infrastructure is not compliant because of the age of the building and how many issues that have to be fixed.
For example:
The High School wing has a continuous leak due to roof issues.
There are actually breaker boxes in each room in lieu of switches.
There are obsolete steam heating registers in the classrooms.

BOTH bonds must pass in order for the school to get the money needed to address these issues.

Jeff Elliott would very much like to be available to answer any and all questions. Complete transparency for all community members that will be voting is necessary to see whether or not they believe this would be valuable for the community.

Regular tours are available so that every single one of us can see with our own eyes just how bad the situation is at the school.
Please keep in mind, this is not just a school. This is our only school for all of our children and it is where adult classes are taken. This is often our community center and some might even argue the heart of our community.

I did interview more pros than cons for this upcoming bond vote.

The pros are everything that's listed above plus that Jeff Elliot and this administration is offering complete transparency and is trustworthy. The school needs it, the kids deserve to be in a safe school that has the infrastructure and space to support a healthy, learning environment, and our whole community needs the school too.

The cons (or the only con I ran across) are some people believe they cannot afford it.

Whatever you do, please take the time to research yourself, take a tour, talk to the kids, and Please Vote.

It is very important, during this time especially,
that we support each other in every way we can.

I found out that our very own Brooke Leugers,
the President of the Chamber, is making sure that each
of our community member's business gets an order from her.

What an incredible example that we can all follow.
Let's all make sure we keep shopping and supporting each other.
