I hope I whet your appetite for what can be done in Photoshop
We covered:

File types & size & their uses
Pixels PPI & Dots DPI & uses
RGB (computer color) & CMYK (printing color)
Resolution 72 dpi to 300 dpi (dots per inch)
HEIC images (apple)
Sending large files
Photoshop workspace & basics of navigation
We also discussed external hard drives if your computer is running slow. 
Check your current computer specifications and search for external hard drives that will be compatible.
There are some phone apps that will do a version of some of what we discussed. One is listed below. I will be adding more info.

Photoshop for the Artist
Tuesdays, 9:30-12 noon
  • Jan 5 The basics:  All about FILES, TOOLS & basic navigation ( will help everyone set up their workspace)
  • Jan 12 Using history & layers, editing basics (hands-on segment trying a few simple projects  I will be showing a video clip on using Photoshop in designing your composition with some great landscape tips. Photoshop demos will include: preparing your photo for painting, repairing a damaged photo, trying various backgrounds & more depending on time. 
  • Jan 19 Using clone, quick selection & skew tools (hands on)
  • Jan 26 Using artistic filters & preparing artwork for print. (creating collage canvases, & adding text to your artwork for giclée prints, cards etc.
To PREPARE AHEAD:
For those taking the class, go ahead & search for photos to use during these classes and put in a folder on your desktop.
If you'd like to send me your images I am happy to use them in class and edit for you!
Examples:
  • Old torn or damaged, yellowed 
  • Reference photos you'd like to paint from
  • Artwork you would like to prepare for canvas prints (adding text etc)
  • Family pictures you'd like to crop heads, if you have several similar shots
  • Dark or light digital images to color correct

  • Powerpoint with examples of what will be covered
  • Instructional segment with step by step demonstrations
  • Q & A segment
  • Hands on segment for those who will be working
