May 19 Lesson ReCap
I love meeting with you guys! Here are a few highlights from today's class!!
  • Guess what, the subject is likely a little boy with sailor suit (thank you Bridget for that history lesson). Heres the article she shared with us
  • Stepping through the video together helps us keep our focus and stopping to discuss, allows room for really nice observations and questions.
  • For 'oiling in' acrylic paintings that are dry, Bridget shared what she uses, Liquitex Palette Wetting Spray. Click on the link for more info.
  • For 'oiling in' water soluble paintings here are two options and Peach shared one with us. Didn't get the brand for that one.  Winsor Newton Water Soluble medium. and Royal Talens Cobra Water Mixable Oil Painting Medium
  • Thank you for all your feedback. I am stoked and love the way these classes are working out so far!! I will reopen the studio eventually but it will be a while and I plan to continue these lessons as well!!
  • I sent the FULL VIDEOS OF BOTH OF THESE SESSIONS. You can always go to my YouTube channel to reference any video I share. Here is link for the channel.  Christine Pilkinton Studio
  • And REMINDER you can send me images of your work through the week. Please email unless you need an immediate response. I will answer ASAP.
Mentioned this in class. Interesting study on Creative output and 'slow motion multi-tasking'.
Why Kolinsky Sable brushes are so expensive!! Great video on how they are made!! Loved watching it!!
May 26 Lesson Plan
I really want to do a study of this painting by Lilian Genth. It is part of the permanent collection at Cheekwood. I cannot find this online, just a tiny thumbnail but I happen to have a high res image that I took years ago when no one was looking. Shhhh please don't tell. I do think everyone may be overwhelmed with the portrait and figure right now so I will plan to do the landscape below next as I had several requests for landscapes.
(UNLESS you tell me NO!!!  lol!! I can be persuaded to change my mind)
Painting at Cheekwood by Lillian Genth
Landscape study by Theodore Clement Steele
I'll be sending another email with all the details for next Tuesdays class.
Will use canvas or sketchbook so no big changes needed on supplies!!
Watch for it by Friday at latest!!
