Ending the Share year with a bang!

Share logoShare has had quite a year, which we ended with our Annual Awards ceremony in November and our Winter Celebration in December.

Georgina and MayorIn addition to the personal successes and achievements of our students, we have much to celebrate as an organisation as we look to provide more tailored services aimed at personal development and independence.

This year we also began working towards accreditation as an autism friendly organisation in response to the increasing level of referrals of students who have autism and learning disabilities, and this work will continue throughout 2016 with a view to gaining full accreditation in 2017.

Winter CelebrationNext year will see us building on the foundations set down in 2015, with the introduction of a varied programme of activities to aid learning.

One of our key aims is to make the most of digital technology to revolutionise the way our students learn, live and communicate – our new immersive learning space (a special room that uses wraparound video and sound to enhance learning) will come into full operation early in the New Year, and will play a huge part in this transformation.

All of this makes for exciting times ahead, which we are very much looking forward to, so watch this space as we innovate and inspire!

Lifelong Learning Awards for two Share Trainees

Congratulations to Rebecca Brum and Rachel Simms, two of Share's graduate trainees, who both won awards for Progression into Training or Employment at the Lifelong Learning Awards in October.

Rachel also won a Learner of the Year award for her outstanding commitment to learning over the year. After completing her traineeship, Rachel undertook volunteer work at Share, and then took up a part-time position working as an assistant in the Share kitchen, helping Share's Catering Tutor and Chef, Kenneth Anderson, to manage the kitchen on a daily basis. Rachel works hard and extremely diligently, so we were delighted to offer her the opportunity to increase her working hours at Share in November.

Having successfully completed her traineeship at Share, Rebecca was keen to pursue a career working with animals, and with Share's help has just started a placement in husbandry at the Deen City Farm.
