Welcome to the latest edition of the County Durham Sport Funding Newsletter. This Newsletter includes information on a range of grant funding and support schemes relevant to sport and physical activity. The Newsletter is designed to keep clubs, national governing bodies, local authorities, education establishments, individuals and other organisations up to date with relevant funding opportunities. Sport England
Community Sport Activation Fund – Round 4 opens on 19 January 2015 – closes at 5.00 pm
20 April 2015

The kind of projects we expect to fund include:
  •  Activities reflecting a broad range of sports
  • Informal opportunities which could lead to regular participation
  • Multi-sport activities which provide people with a range of choices and opportunities to suit them
  • Family orientated activities with a focus on the 14 plus age group
  • Local activator roles that focus on directly organising and delivering new opportunities for participation.
Projects can be up to three years and grant awards will range from £50,000 - £250,000.

Funding workshop on behalf of County Durham Community Foundation
County Durham Community Foundation is organising Funding Sessions to promote funding of up to £5000 for community and voluntary groups in County Durham and Darlington.Staff from the Foundation will be on hand to talk, on a one-to-one basis, about the funding available and the application process at:Glenroyd House in Consett on thursday 12th March from 10:00am - 12:00pmFeel free to drop in between these times.Anyone interested in attending is asked to register by email or ring 0191 378 6340.


Grants of £500- £4000 available for projects changing young lives through sport in County Durham and Darlington in 2015

Following the success of the Sported and County Durham Community Foundation small grant scheme in 2014, we are delighted to announce that the joint scheme is now open for 2015.

Funding to Enhance Community Facilities
Under the Sita Trust's Enhancing Communities Programme Core Fund, grants of up to £60,000 are available to not for profit organisations, community groups, schools, parish councils, local authorities and charities for projects that make physical improvements to community facilities and historic buildings / structures.
SITA will accept applications from projects which are within 3 miles of qualifying SITA UK waste processing sites. Grants of up to £20,000 are also available through their Fast Track Fund for projects with an overall cost of no more than £40,000. Projects on school or pre-school sites where the facilities will primarily benefit the school are not eligible.

The Big Lottery Fund

Small grants are available of between £300 - £10,000, to help community projects better provide for the needs and aspirations of their local community.

Swimathon Community Grants 2015 now open

Applications are now open for the 2015 Swimathon Foundation Community Grants.
The Swimathon Foundation offer grants of funding ranging from £300 to £2,500 to individuals and groups who provide opportunities for swimming and promote the sport in their local communities.

Introduction to Funding Half Day Workshop

This easy-to-understand introductory 3 hour session provides you with all you need to know to have the knowledge and confidence to start writing your own funding applications. It's for complete beginners, those who would like a refresher course or people who simply wish to pick up a few tips.
Places for the training session must be booked in advance and are on a first come, first served basis*
