Welcome to CALABAR GALLERY. We showcase contemporary African Artists and African Diaspora artists globally. Based in Harlem, work featured is inspired and influenced by black African culture globally with a focus on dynamic ideas about art and society. In the last year, if you have purchased work from us, as curator and founder, I personally thank you as the business of art and galleries like everything else has been challenging.
LAST DAY TO BID ON OUR AUCTION
Today is the day as our current auction ends, it ends at 9pm. We are so amazed about the response from the emails we are getting from some of you particularly seasoned collectors and emerging collectors. We created an auction of work of Ghanaian Artists that showcases the range of work.
We can recommend the following work as must buys and work you should collect now. Each of these artists represent the work of Ghana from exhibiting at 1:54, in exhibitions at home and abroad as well as participating in Chale Wote Festival:
PRIZM VIP SECTION OPENS THIS WEEK.
We decided to begin to end this year by doing an Art Fair - and we selected Prizm as the one to participate and will show 7 artists that are in our wheelhouse. REGISTER AT PRIZMARTFAIR.COM
Please visit our gallery site for our Art Sale, we have added new work and over the next few weeks, we will add sections on: Art Fairs, Prints, and New Projects: 2 Apps we are developing, one on Auctions and the other on Harlem Murals.
We are excited and amazed to announce that we have been about this month:
ART HUB (Name to be decided) CHESTER IN THE GREATER PHILADELPHIA: We got asked to conceive a new gallery and arts space for a new complex opening in Chester. We will bring our gallery expertise to focus on African and African Diaspora artists with a Residency Program.
OUR BLACK WOMEN ART COLLECTORS:We are assisting, building and expanding art collections for Black Women. It is a simple idea: buy a piece of art every 2 months, so, 6 per year. Please email email@example.com of how to participate.
OUR ART HUB PROPOSAL FOR NORTH CAROLINA BLACK BUSINESSES with an exhibition space, performance space, and farmer's market space.
A reminder: Our business does well with referrals, that word of mouth scenario is most effective. So even sharing this newsletter to 3 other people is HUGE.
We are closed at the gallery Monday to Thursday for Indigenous People's Day (for most, Thanksgiving). For us, we honor this day and Native American Heritage Month this November as the original people on this land and those who helped enslaved Africans. This month was designated in 1990. 30 years later, please honor that history by expanding your knowledge about Native Americans.
I will work virtually across these four days as this auction closes and Prizm VIP opens. Feel free to email any questions, I promise a response within 5 hours.
Stay healthy, safe and spread the word about our gallery. It takes you to grow artists and galleries. #maskup #wearamask Don't be a Covid-19 super spreader, be an African and African Diaspora Art Spreader. Yes, we need some humor now.
