The DOAB team looks back on what has proven to be a challenging year for the open access book community and we look ahead at some exciting things still to come in 2021.
DOAB welcomes more publishers; collection growth
Thanks to the contributions from many publishers this year, DOAB has grown to now include over 33,800 OA publications from 408 publishers at the time of writing. Having close to 8,000 new publications in 2020 alone.
In 2020 we started with our sustainable funding campaign supported by SCOSS
, seeking financial support from the open science community. We are grateful for the widespread support received from 44 institutions thus far and are excited to continue with campaign in 2021. A recording of one of the several SCOSS presentations held this year can be found here
Upcoming: New open source platform & certification service
By Spring 2021, DOAB will migrate to a new open source platform (DSpace). In parallel to this, DOAB will introduce a certification service for peer review, provided by DOAB on behalf of the OPERAS community. The certification service will be the first from a set of forthcoming services developed through OPERAS-P and the first official OPERAS service to become part of the larger European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
The DOAB team thanks you all for your support in 2020 and wishes you good health. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the OA and OS community in 2021.
