Wild and Wolly will be the theme of the second Saturday Art Walk exhibit at Cabled Fiber & Yarn Saturday June 11 from 5-7pm. Examples of textile artist Katie Blizzard of The Woven Wilds will be on display as well as a demonstration of her weaving technique. The exhibit will feature wall hangings including examples from her living walls.
Katie admits to a plant obsession. One day as she was looking at a blank spot on her wall she began the creative imaging for wall hangings. From there it grew to a business that a stay-at-home mom could embrace. “My inspiration comes from nature, textures and landscapes.” says Katie. “One of my favorite weavings simulates wood grain, and another was inspired by the geography of Port Angeles”. Katie works mostly with yarn (wool or alpaca) and roving, and recently has begun to incorporate cotton rope into her artwork.
We hope you will join us in admiring Katie's creations!
