Board Games in School has developed a new programme supporting the introduction of modern board and card games into schools around New Zealand. They have started with a small number of schools covering about 1,000 pupils. Schools get a free trial pack of games and then can make decisions about either renting or buying games if they feel they have both educational and entertainment value. Schools have been using the games both for lunch time entertainment and in class to support learning.

We are about to open prototype testing of two new games.  If you are interested in play-testing for us, please make sure you've filled out the short form linked here to let us know your availability and which sort of games you prefer.

Manifest is a board game in which you control a fleet of ships which  traverse the oceans gathering and delivering goods to complete randomly assigned missions.  Action cards are multi-purpose:  thwart your opponents or finish an objective faster?  If you like lighter Euro-games such as Komodo and Ticket to Ride, you may enjoy Manifest.

Granny Wars: A Game of Tit for Tat is a card game we are developing in conjunction with Brad Thompson, who developed the core game mechanic.  It is a fast-playing game of secret loyalties for 3 to 8.  Help your Nana win a handcrafting prize by distracting her opposition.  "Misplaced" reading glasses, anyone?

Come play with us!

We'll have prototypes and our published titles at these upcoming events:
  • This weekend is the Auckland edition of Board Games by the Bay, known as BGBTB, now in bigger and better premises at the Bridge Club on Remuera Road.
  • The Hamilton event runs July 20-21.
  • We are also excited to be attending New Zealand's largest boardgame convention, WellyCon.  Now in its sixth year, the Wellington event runs June 1-2.
