First public rehearsal of Cool Funeral Beer in Copenhagen, September 4

In the early eighties we created the Bitter Funeral Beer, a work greatly inspired by the funeral traditions of the Lo-Birifor peoples of Northern Ghana. Their funeral ceremonies are concluded one or several years after the first ceremony with the Cool Funeral Beer ceremony. Likewlse we are trying to reach the conclusion of our version some 40 years later. This will happen thru a series of open rehearsals until we reach the full three days of performing our Cool Funeral Beer for the last time. The first one is held at Bellehöj Friluftscene in Copenhagen on September 4 at 5 part of the Organic Music Societies project. More info at Cool Funeral Beer.

VILTVARNING - LIVE AT FASCHING 2002 (CEX33 - digital only - release date October 8)
Wild Life Alert! On November 14th, 2002, we gave a concert at the Fasching jazz club in Stockholm, the idea was to have a full evening around wild life, with wild food and wild musicians with a special wild life menu created by Bengt Carling. We started the evening by hypnotising the audience, coaxing them into experiencing the presence of a live elk passing through the club during the evening.
The band had some of the more adventurous Swedish jazz musicians at the time. Two drummers - Martin Jonsson and Bengt Berger - and two bassists, Torbjörn Zetterberg and Per-Ola Landin, plus the keyboard great Mats Öberg, the guitarist Göran Klinghagen and three of the hotter saxophonists of the day - Thomas Gustafsson, Jonas Knutsson and the late David Wilczewski. The trumpeter/accordionist Thomas Hallonsten and the singer Lina Nyberg complete the lineup.
Here is everything we played that evening, two full hours of music including the possibility of getting yourself hypnotised in the beginning. More info here
AROLKAR'S 1968 PRIVAT CONCERT (CEX34 - digital only - release date October 8)
This two and a half hour vocal concert by the Gwalior Gharana maestro Sharadchandra Arolkar was recorded at a private concert in Chembur, Bombay in 1968. We are happy to release this intimate concert in full on October 8, 2021. Pandit Arolkar is masterfully accompanied by tabla genius Ravi Bellare and Masit Khan on sarangi with supporting vocal by his student Pt. Sharad Sathe.
A doyen of the Gwalior Gharana, Pandit Sharadchandra Arolkar was born in 1912. Reclusive by temperament all his life, yet when he performed, his music came as a brilliant revelation. He died in 1994. More info here
