CITY HAPPENINGS

Be a part of your community

Saturday, February 9
•Awaken your love of science with activities led by Harvard scientists, graduate students, and enthusiastic explorers. Meet scientists who investigate fossils, microbes, or carnivorous plants. Hear short talks on current research at Harvard. Observe tiny, tough tardigrades (microscopic "water bears"), and make your own model. Bring your own collections to show to local shell and mineral clubs. The annual I Heart Science Festival has something for everyone and is appropriate for children and adults of all ages!

•Join friends and neighbors for an evening of dinner and dancing to celebrate 97 years of the Beacon Hill Civic Association and the Beacon Hill neighborhood. The non-profit neighborhood association was founded in 1922 by residents committed to preserving and protecting Beacon Hill's beauty and historical integrity. Since then, generations of dedicated BHCA members have worked to keep the best of the past while ensuring the neighborhood's ongoing livability and sense of community. Get your ticket to the Beacon Hill Gala & Annual Appeal.
• Boston Bruins will face off against the Los Angeles Kings at TD Garden this weekend!

Sunday, February 10
The Winter Walk is an annual event and initiative that believes ending homelessness is within our reach. The mission is to raise funds and awareness towards that goal, and to support organizations in Greater Boston that are working on prevention, support, and care for our homeless community. The 2 mile walk through the streets of Boston during the coldest month of the year will begin and end on Copley Plaza. Participants, housed and unhoused, will walk shoulder to shoulder and then share a meal together as we hear real stories of Boston’s homeless population. All of these individuals are our neighbors in need, and we can help.
•Join 25+ farm fiber and craft vendors from all over New England for the one-day Farm & Fiber Festival in the heart of downtown Boston. Free programming all day including weaving demo sponsored by Harrisville Design, spinning demos, live animals thanks to Wing and a Prayer Farm, kids activities thanks to Blue Heron Farm, book signings, and the fabulous + amazing Taproot Knitting Lounge! Support #farmyarns and small New England family fiber farms!

•Join Short Path Distillery for a free tour of the production facility each Sunday at 2pm. Learn how the spirits are made and what makes each unique. Enjoy some complimentary spirit tastings as part of the tour! After the tour, feel free to stay and enjoy a cocktail or two in the tasting room. They’ve got an ever-evolving list of cocktails featuring Short Path Distillery spirits. You are welcome to BYO food or order delivery to the tasting room. Dogs are welcome on the heated outdoor patio!

Best, Joe
