During 2021, business, education, economic development and policy leaders across the state pushed to invest state and federal dollars in higher education as the best way to boost Michigan’s economy and to support companies, families and communities. Stories ran from Marquette to Monroe, voters weighed in with their state legislators, and boardrooms statewide echoed with the same message: “Fund Higher Education.”
During a virtual press conference earlier this year, the support for university funding was clear. The bottom line is: If we want Michigan to be home to the best jobs, most prosperous industries and most competitive talent, we need to get serious about supporting our universities and their students with the funds they need to compete with the best.
