The University Research Corridor, an alliance of Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, and Wayne State University, is core to Michigan’s mobility industry and critical to its future competitiveness as the industry evolves. As one of the nation’s top university innovation clusters and a driving force for Michigan’s ranking as a top ten state for academic R&D, the URC is a hub for talent, research and development (R&D) and innovation for the mobility industry.
 
Over the past five years, the URC universities have contributed $542.4 million in mobility-related R&D that is leading to innovations that make transportation of people and goods safer, cleaner, more efficient and more accessible. The URC leads the nation's top university innovation clusters in preparing the greatest number of graduates in high demand fields for the mobility industry. And the URC universities are leveraging their expertise, campuses and partnerships with industry and government to provide living, working labs to test new technologies for the market.
 
This brief provides examples that illustrate the role the URC universities play in supporting Michigan’s mobility industry today and help to position it to lead the world into the next generation of mobility.
 

URC mobility experts Dr. Satish Udpa of Michigan State University, Dr. Jim Sayer of University of Michigan and Dr. Weisong Shi of Wayne State University are joined by Glenn Stevens, MICHauto executive director, Kathryn Snorrason, Michigan Economic Development Corporation Office of Future Mobility and Electrification Managing Director and Britany Affolter-Caine, University Research Corridor executive director to announce the release of the URC's Mobility Brief.
