MHRA consultation on Brexit no-deal proposals
Earlier today, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority announced a consultation on how its legislation and regulatory processes would need to be modified in the unlikely event that the UK leaves the EU without a deal in March 2019.
Health Secretary announces ambition to map 5 million genomes
Delivering his first party conference speech as Secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock MP announced that the NHS Genomic Medicine Service will expand the 100,000 Genomes Project to include up to five million genomes in the long term. 
New UKRI portal to manage no-deal Brexit contingency for EU research and innovation funding
Last week Government announced details of how no-deal contingency plans for UK researchers in receipt of European Commission Horizon 2020 funding will be managed.

Launch of new tool to show Excess Treatment Costs
From 1 October 2018, researchers applying for clinical research grants will need to complete a Schedule of Events Cost Attribution Template (SoECAT) in order to be eligible for the NIHR portfolio and the support this provides.
New guides on patient involvement and registries
The Medical Research Charities Group (MRCG), a national organisation of charities in Ireland, has published two new guides to help medical research charities: 'Developing a PPI Strategy' and 'Developing a Patient Registry'.
‘Team science’ gets support across EU borders 
Cancer Research UK together with the Italian and Spanish cancer research associations, AIRC and FC AECC, are funding six international research teams, through the Accelerator Award. These collaborations are going to develop high quality resources to progress translational cancer research globally. 
Be a GameChanger: playing a part in dementia research 
Alzheimer’s Society is looking for thousands of people across the UK to be GameChangers by downloading their app and playing fun, free, ‘brain games’ for five minutes a day, every day, for a month. It will help them understand more about how the brain works to support dementia research.
