DEA Decides to Relax Requirements for Medical Marijuana Research
In late December, the DEA announced that it would relax requirements on medical marijuana research. PAMED President Scott Shapiro, MD issued the following statement: “The announcement by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) relaxing requirements on cannabis-derived research is encouraging. The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) has called on state and federal officials to support further research on the efficacy and safety of the medical use of cannabis. The DEA’s announcement today is consistent with PAMED’s position and opens the door for important research and treatment options.” If you would like a full copy of the statement, please contact PAMED's Chuck Moran cmoran@pamedsoc.org.
