Get Off the Sidelines: Advocate For Your Profession

Pennsylvania Medical Society Reacts to Sen. Toomey and the PROP Act
Scott Shapiro, MD, president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and a practicing cardiologist from Montgomery County reacts to Sen. Toomey’s news conference held on April 29 at Lehigh Valley Hospital. The news conference covered the PROP Act. Physicians across Pennsylvania are strongly behind efforts to address our country’s battle with opioid overuse, abuse, and misuse. The Pennsylvania Medical Society has supported a number of related projects ranging from prescription drug monitoring systems to prescribing guidelines. Read more.
Gov. Wolf Signs Medical Marijuana Bill into Law; What Does This Mean for Physicians?
Despite opposition from PAMED, on April 13, the Pennsylvania legislature passed Senate Bill 3 – a bill legalizing medical marijuana. Gov. Wolf signed the bill into law April 17. PAMED prepared the following Quick Consults to answer physician and patient questions.
