Iron Fuser 7 - THREE DAYS LEFT!

No Fusing Friday - Extended Open Studio

We are extending this Friday's Open Studio from noon until 9 PM to allow for last-minute work on Iron Fuser entries which are due Saturday by 7 PM.

Fusing Friday Calendar

Here are the current plans for upcoming Fusing Fridays (subject to change):

Class Spotlight: Thinforming

When thinforming, the artist fuses a sheet of glass with a thin layer of color on one surface and then kiln carves into it. This creates work with exceptional contour and depth. Done properly, the technique allows you to take advantage of glass's unique ability to display designs beneath the surface!

In this two session (four hour) class, students will use glass powders and iridization to design the glass surface before creating a fiber paper pattern that will be embossed into the glass using the kiln.

This class starts Saturday at 1 PM

You can learn more about the class on our website. To register, please stop by the studio or call us at 512-996-0960.

Special Production Spotlight

Current Status: IN STOCK

This delicate color is considered a "gold pink" and is proving to be wonderful in layers.

It is very important to follow the firing schedule for gold pinks to get this worthwhile result. Help sheets that include firing schedules are available in the studio.

Limited to glass on hand. While supplies last.

Project of the Week

One of our newer classes is "Advanced Stenciling" and the work that students having been making is knocking us over. For example, take a look at this week's project, an exquisite nature scene by Pat D.

After making small test tiles, Pat used masks, stencils, and paint brushes to create the image over multiple firings. We absolutely love the delicacy and texture. We are also starting to suspect, when nobody is looking, that the bird sings softly. We'll update you as we learn more.

See you soon,
Karen and Paul
