Don’t forget to run updates on Accounts, Procurement and Wages every Monday to ensure your are always on the latest version using latest functionality. 
  • The user defined import function has been updated to allow the import and update of master file attributes
  • The Job card summary report now also includes empty job cards.
  • A function has been added to the requisition based hire returns that allows the capture of up to 8 additional meter readings per plant item.  Note these meter types are configured globally but do not trigger any form of servicing and are not currently shown on any reports.
  • A force balance function has been added to Payroll journals. This will insert a balancing line into the journal with the same allocations as the last line of the journal to make it balance.  A maximum adjustment of 1 can be processed in the way.
  • The workflows have been updated to enhance the performance of the journal listing screen where workflows are enabled.
  • The Plant Utilization Summary Report has been updated to allow the selection of intercompany contracts in the selection filters.
  • A more detailed explanation as to what the recurrence period is used for on recurring journals has been added.
  • The copy Debtors invoice function can now also retain the original invoices line ordering.
  • The P&E Plant report now has a check box to exclude inactive and archived plant items.  Note if this is selected the report will not reconcile back to the ledger as transaction on the excluded plant items will not be reflected.
  • When adding an additional cost item onto a plant requisition and allocating the recovery directly to the plant item it is now possible to select which of the plant revenue ledger codes should be used for the recovery.

What's happening

Violating midday work ban risks one month closure
As the hottest time of the year approaches, so does the midday summer work ban. Employers in Qatar are being reminded to follow specific working hours from 15 June to 31 August.
No labourer should log more than five hours of outdoor work in the mornings, according to a ministerial decree issued in 2007. In addition, no outside work can be undertaken from 11:30am to 3pm during the summer months, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs stated.

How was Burj Al Arab Terrace constructed?
The Burj Al Arab Terrace was opened in Dubai on Wednesday, 25 May. 
Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum unveiled the project. The outdoor luxury leisure facility was developed using off-site construction methods. 
The architectural form of the Terrace has been designed to reflect the shape of Burj Al Arab. The design also incorporates a 612m2 freshwater pool and an 828m2 saltwater infinity pool.

World's "first 3D-printed office" opens in Dubai
Building next to Emirates Towers in Dubai took 17 days to ‘print’, and was installed on site within two days. The “first 3D-printed office in the world” opened in Dubai on Monday, according to the UAE state news agency WAM.
The pod-like structures, on the grounds of the Emirates Towers office block and hotel, will house the temporary offices of the Dubai Future Foundation, it was reported.
A 3D-printer with automated robotic arm – measuring 20 feet high, 120 feet long and 40 feet wide – was used to print the building.
