Club mourns
long-time leader of Tampa chapter

The Propeller Club lost a key contributor and close friend with the passing of Shirley McKay Savage Knight in September. An active member of The Propeller Club Port of Tampa, Shirley served on the board for both the international organization and the Tampa chapter during the time she served as president of A.R. Savage & Son, the largest ship agency, ocean freight forwarding and advisory services company on Florida’s west coast.

2014 Annual Convention
held in Louisville

The Club's 2014 International Convention was held in Louisville, Ky., along the banks of the Ohio River in October.  Through presentations and field trips, attendees got a close-up look at one of America's vital inland waterways.  Volunteers from four Ports in the Ohio Valley region served as hosts for this visit to the shallow-draft navigation system.

Plan now to observe National Maritime Day

Since the creation of National Maritime Day in 1933, U.S. Propeller Club Ports have been hosting events to commemorate those who endured the perils of the sea during times of war and peace, and to recognize those who carry on the tradition today.  It is an annual opportunity for the Club to remind the public at large about the importance of the industry and our maritime heritage.
