Dr. Peter Kivisto will speak about conditions migrants face in their own countries which cause them to leave and trek hundreds of miles to our borders for help as well as the complicity of our own government in creating these very conditions.
Jody Mashek, Director of the Legal Services for AFSC will share her personal experiences on the border working with the migrants.

This year's theme: “FROM WHENCE WE CAME, a celebration of civil rights history,” The day will include a variety of activities.
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. a community service project sponsored by KWQC TV6 for a drive through at the TV6 station (805 Brady St.) where personal and household cleaning products may be donated to help supply Blessing Boxes in the community.
The program for the day will be hosted at Sacred Heart Cathedral (422 E10th St.) and will include the viewing of a major civil rights history (local, state & national) exhibit displayed from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.An assembly / program will begin at 11:00 a.m. with keynote presentation by Jim Collins, retired executive, Deere & Company, 1st Executive Director of Project NOW (‘68) and former commissioner of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission (‘89 – ‘92).
