Learn More About AWP's Mentorship Program

Preparations are underway for the Fall 2015 session of Writer to Writer, AWP's mentorship program, running September 14 to December 14, 2015. We match emerging writers and published authors for a three-month series of modules on topics such as craft, revision, publishing, and the writing life. Mentors volunteer their time and receive a free one-year AWP membership; the program is free to mentees. Writer to Writer is open to all members, but we particularly encourage two underserved segments of our membership to apply: those writers who have never been associated with an MFA program, and those writing from regions, backgrounds, and cultures that are typically underrepresented in the literary world. Mentor applications are welcome now. Prospective mentees are encouraged to submit their applications anytime from July 10 to August 1.

You can also join us on July 7 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET for a tweet chat about the program! Be a part of the conversation using the hashtag #AWPmentorship. Previous program participants and Membership Director Diane Zinna will be answering your questions live. Can't tweet with us? Email diane@awpwriter.org with your Twitter handle and your question to have it answered for the other prospective mentors and mentees.

Recent Graduates: Only 3 Days Left to Join at Our Discounted Rate!

Nominate an Outstanding Community Leader for the George Garrett Award

Do you know someone who has shown exceptional generosity to the next generation of writers? Nominate him or her for the 2016 George Garrett Award for Outstanding Community Service in Literature. The winner receives a lifetime membership in AWP and a $2,000 honorarium, along with transportation, accommodation, and registration to attend AWP's annual conference in Los Angeles, where the award will be publicly conferred. We welcome letters of nomination postmarked between August 1 and September 15.

#AWP16 Bookfair Rolling Sales Launch

The rolling launch begins with organizations that have exhibited in the bookfair for five or more years. They have exclusive access to purchase exhibit space and select their placement for the first two weeks. The next two weeks will be open to organizations that have exhibited for one to four years. After that, the system will be open to all organizations. The rolling exhibit sales process replaces the point system and continues to reward exhibiting companies for their commitment to AWP and the bookfair.

Visit the bookfair's Facebook page for updates, and visit the bookfair section of the AWP website to download the Exhibitor Prospectus PDF for detailed exhibit information.
