Read the #AWP22 Health & Safety Policy
For the past several weeks, AWP conference staff have been determining #AWP22 health and safety policies with the goal of hosting a safe and valuable conference. We have now shared our official #AWP22 Health & Safety Policy with information on our policies for gathering safely in person in Philadelphia, PA, in March 2022. We hope you will take the time to review the full COVID-19 policy, and if you have any questions or would like to be added to the list to receive future COVID-19 surveys, please email for assistance.

AWP asked: What purpose does writing serve in your life?

Here are some of the answers we received:

@angeliquetung: Helping others heal trauma through teaching. Also healing my own trauma

@hard_to_handle_cristien: Letting people in my little

@bird.the.writer: It is my purpose. It makes each day matter.

@turtleberry: "it's my therapy when I'm losing it which is usually the case..."

@lisekimhorton: For years my writing sustained me emotionally & mentally, as I toiled at the mind-numbing, soul crushing day job. Now retired I'm forced to recalibrate & am finding it hard. How about you?

AWP also asked: Who is the #1 supporter of your writing career? How do they keep you going?

@OnyxPublication: Coffee is my biggest supporter. Warm, welcoming, and always there when I'm in need.

@DarlingSefora: Does family count? Like I mention family wholesomely as one person does that count? If it does, then my answer to that question is FAMILY.

Follow AWP on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter to look for a different question every Tuesday.
