Sales of Books Authored by Rep. John Lewis Increase in Outpour of Support
After Donald Trump insulted Rep. John Lewis on Twitter, many reacted in support of the congressman by buying up his books. Sales of his memoir, Walking with the Wind, and his trilogy of graphic novels, March, soared after the tweet and sold out on Amazon. The LA Times has more.

#WritersResist a Success
Last weekend, the #WritersResist movement held dozens of protest readings across the country, with a headlining event co-sponsored with PEN America in New York. Read a report on that event and watch video of the readings over at Publishers Weekly.

The AWP Award Series is now open for submissions in creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and short fiction. Check our website for this year's guidelines as well as instructions for entering. Submit your manuscripts by February 28.
 
Win $500 to Attend a Writers' Conference
 
The WC&C Scholarship Competition is open now. AWP will award winners in three genres, as judged by francine j. harris for poetry, Brian Oliu for creative nonfiction, and Naomi Williams for fiction. The $500 prize money can be applied to attendance at any of the 150+ writers' conferences, centers, festivals, retreats, or residencies in our WC&C Directory.
