Find a Writers' Conference This Summer
AWP's Directory of Conferences and Centers lists over 60 writers' conferences, festivals, retreats, and residencies happening this summer, and many more that take place year-round. If you know of a program not on this list, please email us so this directory can continue to provide the web's most comprehensive listing of writers' events.
Extend Your Membership at Our Student Rate
Graduating this year? Stay connected with your writing community, after the MFA, by joining AWP today as an individual member! Join by June 30 and use promo code MFA14. You'll pay only $45—our deeply discounted student rate—in your first post-graduate year. Be sure to select the student membership rate at checkout.
Put AWP's Award Series Winners on Your Summer Reading List
Each year, AWP's Award Series discovers outstanding new books of creative nonfiction, novels, poetry collections, and works of short fiction that continue to garner praise long after they are published. Add a few of them to your summer reading list. Hot off the press: Julian Hoffman's The The Small Heart of Things, Andrew Ladd's What Ends, Joan Naviyuk Kane's Hyperboreal, and Lucas Southworth's Everyone Here Has a Gun.
Let Us Know Your Thoughts on Mentorship
AWP is currently exploring the possibility of a mentorship program. The program would be free to members and pair established career writers with those just starting out. Particularly, we are interested in helping to coordinate membership experiences for culturally underrepresented literary voices and for those writers who have never been associated with an MFA program. We would love to hear from both potential mentors and mentees; please email us and let us know if you would find such an opportunity of value, and what you would hope to gain from the experience.
Nominate an Outstanding Community Leader for the George Garrett Award
Do you know someone who has shown exceptional generosity to the next generation of writers? Nominate him or her for the 2015 George Garrett Award for Outstanding Community Service in Literature. The winner receives a lifetime membership in AWP and a $2,000 honorarium, along with travel, accommodations, and registration to attend AWP's annual conference in Minneapolis, where the award will be publicly conferred. We welcome letters of nomination postmarked between August 1 and September 15.
Bookfair Sales Rolling Launch Begins June 11, 2014
The enhancements to the bookfair sales and management online system are in the final stages with an expected launch date of June 11, 2014. The rolling launch begins with organizations that have exhibited in the bookfair for 5 or more years. They will have exclusive access to purchase exhibit space and select their placement for the first two weeks. The next two weeks will be open to organizations that have exhibited for 1-4 years. After that, the system will be open to all organizations. The rolling exhibit sales process replaces the point system and continues to reward exhibiting companies for their commitment to AWP and the bookfair.

Visit the Bookfair Facebook page for updates and the Bookfair section of the AWP website to download the Exhibitor Prospectus for detailed exhibit information.
