It has been a busy summer here at Mahoosuc. Polly just returned from a beautiful canoe trip on the West Branch of the Penobscot River and will be heading up there again next week. We had a number of sightings of moose and bald eagles.
Kevin had a nice journey down the Yukon River guiding for Arctic Wild (owned by one of our past apprentices) in Alaska. This is very large country with amazing mountains everywhere!
In June Kevin guided a film crew down the Allagash river for Facing Waves hosted by Maine Woods Discovery and the videos were just aired on Outside Television. You can view them at:
We said good bye to 15 year old Roisin on July 27th as she now joins her siblings, Maeve and Cormac, in doggie heaven. She was a very sweet and gentle dog and is very much missed.
We offered a white water clinic with the Appalachian Mountain Club and people had a good time learning to paddle in Class 1 & 2 white water safely on the Androscoggin River.
John Chapman is our apprentice now and a great help here at Mahoosuc!  We are looking for a couple more individuals to join our team for the fall/winter season. If you are interested please contact us for more details.
It isn't too early to book a dogsledding trip with us this 2016/17 winter season. See our schedule at:
There is still room on our Allagash fall foliage trip October 3-8th. This is a beautiful time of year to travel on the river with the fall colors at their peak and not many people.
We are hosting a couple wilderness first aid courses here at our lodge this fall. October 22-23rd Wilderness First Aid and October 22-24th Wilderness First Responder Refresher or Open Recert course through Wilderness Medical Associates and instructor Jon Tierney.
Hope you all are enjoying your summer and that we see you on a trip with Mahoosuc in the future!
