We are gearing up for winter, getting the dogs in shape with our unmotorized ATV's, waiting for snow and ice to arrive. This has been a good time of year to do some prep for winter such as getting our winter camps set up with wall tents, woodstoves, balsam fir bough floors and firewood. Our dog pastures have gotten some much needed maintenance with new cedar posts, trenched fencing, etc.

People are signing up for our dogsledding trips. Some weekends are full and others have room. Please check out our dogsledding schedule. We are welcoming back many schools that come out with us every year bringing anxious and excited new students to experience the thrill of dogsledding and peace of the Maine Woods!

We finished our canoe season with a very successful pilot program with the Penobscots to Sugar Island in the Penobscot River. We are offering two trips next summer, one in August and one is September. We are also happy to be offering a new canoe trip to Alaska next summer with a man who spent 10 years living a subsistence lifestyle on the Yukon River. Please check out our canoe schedule.

We are looking for one more apprentice for the winter season. This is a great opportunity to learn to work with a dogteam, a traditional style of winter camping among other things. Please contact us in your are interested in this apprenticeship.

Next wilderness first aid and open recert first aid courses at Mahoosuc Mountain Lodge with Jon Tierney from Wilderness Medical Associates are: April 28-30, 2017.

We hope to see some of you on the trail this winter!!!
