In this issue: Summer has officially arrived and so has the heat. The only reprieve we've had so far was when Carlos, the third named storm of the season, brought 2.8 inches (72 mm) of much needed rain a few weeks ago. You can check the current weather conditions on the Official Jaltemba Bay Weather page.

To find out what else is happening, read through the information below and take a peek at our event calendar

Watch for the next issue of the Jaltemba Bay Life Newsletter to arrive in your Inbox on Wednesday, August 5 just in time for your morning coffee. In the meantime, keep an eye on our blog and forum, as we post information, stories and photos there on a regular basis.

Saludos!

A Surprise Visit to El Palacio de Ocomo in Oconahua, Jalisco

by John & Doreen Berg

Surviving the Summer Heat
in Jaltemba Bay

by Christina Stobbs

It’s hot and dusty in Los Ayala. Just how dusty you ask? Well, I dust our home every single morning and by mid-afternoon it looks like I have not dusted for at least a week. What’s the point? During the few weeks before the torrential downpours of the rainy season arrive, my husband.  Read More

In Season: Mango Madness / Mango Salsa

by Allyson Williams

Mangoes are plentiful during the summer months. Just drive down the street and you can’t help but notice that the mango tree limbs are literally weighed down to the ground with hundreds, if not thousands, of this incredibly sweet and delectable fruit. You will find many different varieties at every mercado, fruteria and minisuper around town. Even the roadside stands have bins upon bins filled to the brim.  Read More

From the Past

Hala Hazzi, from Hamaca Maya in La Peñita, recently shared a link to an article we published back in 2012 on her Facebook page. It describes the intriguing story of one particular house that had been rented by several well-known locals. It got such a great response that we've decided to repost the intro and the first in a 6-part series. We will share the others in upcoming issues of our newsletter, so stay tuned...

HISTORY

Part 2: Casita on Calle Mazatlan

by Tom Plattenberger

Living in Alaska, my partner Bruce and I always looked forward to yearly, extended vacations in Mexico. Each year we selected a new, small section of the coast between Mazatlan and Barra de Navidad for our roaming explorations. We would also spend a month or more setting up housekeeping, staying put in one place in a rented apartment or bungalow, pretending that we were living in Mexico.  Read More

This story is the second in a 6-part series. Click here to read “Enchanting Little House in La Peñita: The Intro” to learn how this story came to fruition, along with other stories in this series.
