We've had a great start to the Autumn/Winter session here at Stirling Fitness and probably the busiest term yet at this time of year.

There are still a couple of spaces in Pilates:

And welcome to Autumn/Winter here at Stirling Fitness.

I have never felt so motivated in a long while - classes are busy and buzzing and many of you have signed up for 2 or even 3 sessions per week.

 Pictured above is Sarah Anderson who after only starting to keep fit a few months ago is now doing 3 classes and has, along with Alexis and Christine moved into Men on Mats on Tuesdays at 7pm.
We are really upping the pace this session with many of you advanced Pilates clients enjoying (?!) the new Tabatas and challenges.
Remember though you can work hard in any class you just need to focus and push yourself forward.

Please ask if you feel you are not being challenged enough...

For the first time in my life I visited a physiotherapist this week, due to a niggle on the inside of my knee which has been bothering me for a while and caused by overuse and overstretching.
After being ordered not to do any impact or deep stretching for 2 weeks it is feeling great with the help of some massage, Levotape and ice/heat therapy.

Of course every cloud has a silver lining and I have some fantastic knee ligament strengthening exercises for you recommended by Susan at Physio Focus.

What's new for 2016?

I'm already looking ahead to 2016 at Stirling Fitness - it was great being able to visit the FitPro Live exhibition in London this year and to see what's coming up in the UK for fitness next year.

Slimming Club - this will run for a trial 6 weeks from Saturday 9/1/16 - 13/2/16.
You will need to be available for a 'measure-in', mentor and master fitness class at 10am EVERY Saturday for the 6 week block.
Commitment is King! You will NOT lose weight and get fit if you cannot commit.
There are only 10 places and we will be covering nutrition, self-love, fitness and personal presentation.

Fat Loss seems to be at the top of, particularly most female's fitness goals, and for this reason I am going to put on another High Intensity Training (HIIT) class at 8pm on Mondays in January/February.
This gives the option of a later time to attend, shelter from the winter nights, a great day of the week to get it over with (!) and the chance to do 2 fatburning classes per week!

I am expecting this to fill up pretty quickly (10 spaces) so book asap if you plan to attend. £6 per class.

Skipping - this has been known as tried and tested method of fat-loss and I will be introducing this into PT sessions immediately with a view to bringing into the HIIT classes after Xmas.

I will be hosting some educational sessions in the studio in the New Year with the help of some experts in massage therapy, posture and your psychological make-up, nutrition and reflexology.

Member of the Month
This time it's Matthew Power (40) who has been coming to Men on Mats Pilates for almost 4 years.
Why do you do Pilates?
After years of intermittent back pain I was advised to try Pilates by my doctor. I found Elaine's Men on Mats class and decided to give it a go.
What changes have you seen since starting?
Since coming I have definitely become more flexible and probably a bit stronger. I am also more aware of my posture and body in general. Incidents of back pain are less frequent and now I know how to manage these more effectively.
What do you like about your class?
The class is great because there are different levels of challenge that you can add to each exercise and it's a relaxed non-competitive environment.
What are your next fitness goals?
I would like to run more regularly as well as attending Pilates.
What is your favourite exercise?
I really enjoy doing Seated Roll-downs
Least favourite?
It has to be the Disc Tabata! (Kneeling abdominal challenge - circuits based)
