The German international development agency (GIZ) has awarded a contract to Landbell Group and Black Forest Solutions to advise on the development of a tailormade deposit refund system (DRS) for beverage containers in Kosovo.

The project will support the Kosovan Ministry of Economy and Environment in its efforts to implement extended producer responsibility and guide Kosovo along the circular economy path.

This year’s Green Alley Award received over 180 applications from European startups, including 49 applications from Italy (26%). The ideas of the Italian startups mainly focus on waste prevention (39%) with the other projects equally distributed in the digital solutions and recycling categories.
