The global resolve to reduce waste

Ain’t no mountain high enough… |
|
Unless, of course, it’s a mountain of plastic.
Plastic is a major concern for the environment. Despite numerous awareness campaigns, legislation, efforts to find substitutes, the use of plastic is not decreasing.
Quite the opposite, in fact. As we point out in this COMPASS, global plastic waste may triple by 2060! A new German study highlights the trends and reasons why this is happening, not just in Germany, but also globally.
Fortunately, more and more countries are expanding EPR and introducing new restrictions on the use of plastics.
The United States have taken important steps towards boosting the circular economy. Numerous legislative changes have taken place at state level to combat plastic waste and promote post-consumer recycled plastic. You’ll find a full account of the latest changes below.
E-waste, hazardous chemicals and textiles are also big concerns. That’s why we’ve got updates for you on these topics, as well as new requirements on eco-design, and more.
Whether you’re climbing high mountains, hiking low valleys, swimming wide rivers, or enjoying your summer elsewhere, please protect nature… and don’t forget to bring July’s COMPASS with you!
We’ll take a break (to recharge our batteries) in August, so the next COMPASS will be in September.
See you then! |
